Indeed, Switzerland&#8217;s science hub benefits from stable, reliable bilateral agreements between the country and its EU partners.<\/p>\n<p>Concerning participation in EU programmes, the ETH Board is reiterating its stance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participating in EU framework programmes for research and innovation is of vital importance to the ETH Domain. This latest milestone between Switzerland and the EU <strong>allows exploratory talks for the association to Horizon Europe to begin immediately<\/strong>. <strong>The ETH Board warmly welcomes this positive development and calls for Switzerland&#8217;s full association to Horizon Europe as soon as possible. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Switzerland&#8217;s association to Horizon Europe must be kept separate from the other negotiations between Switzerland and the EU.<\/strong> This is necessary to achieve a swift association. The European scientific community has also been calling for this <strong>decoupling<\/strong> since 2021 as part of the &#8220;Stick to Science&#8221; campaign.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The conditions for participation<\/strong> in EU programmes must be <strong>clarified as quickly as possible<\/strong> <strong>and <\/strong><strong>communicated well in advance<\/strong>, in order to ensure maximum involvement of the Swiss scientific and industrial community in the Horizon Europe package.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Swiss transitional measures and financial guarantees must be maintained until Switzerland is associated. All opportunities for participation<\/strong> at EU level<strong> must be accessible<\/strong> for Swiss participants, either by association or via Swiss compensation measures.<\/li>\n<li>In this context, the ETH Board welcomes the efforts made by SERI to limit the negative impact of non-association to EU programmes since 2021, as well as those made by the institutions implementing Swiss schemes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In light of this, the ETH Board is pleased that association to Horizon Europe remains the prime objective of the Swiss government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ETH Board welcomes the developments in Swiss-EU relations announced by the Federal Council on 8 November and by the European Commission on 21 November.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[478],"tags":[],"search-tag":[],"class_list":["post-41436","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-statements"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
